Habana to stay with Bulls

The Blue Bulls Company (Pty) Ltd came out strongly on Friday in refuting the lastest report that their Springbok winger Bryan Habana is said to be considering a huge offer to play for top French club Bayonne.

A report on Friday in a Johannesburg daily says Habana has been made a cash offer from Bayonne worth R4,1 million a year over four years.

Habana, voted IRB Player of the Year in 2007, is also linked in a possible move to Stade Toulouse in the report.

The Blue Bulls Company three weeks ago also rejected rumours that Habana would be playing overseas and pointed out that his contract with the Bulls only expires at the end of 2009.

They re-emphasised that in a statdement on Friday, which reads: “The Blue Bulls Company (Pty) Ltd would like to make it clear that Bryan Habana is contracted till the end of October 2009 and he will play for the Bulls for at least the next two seasons.

“There are a number of media reports suggesting otherwise, but the fact of the matter is that Habana is staying with the Bulls.

“These reports are upsetting the Blue Bulls Company as well as Habana’s family and are not true.”
