Heyeneke could be headed for France

South Africa’s only victorious Super 14 coach Heyneke Meyer who was rejected in his bid to become Springbok coach is being touted as a possible coach for Toulon.

A report on the website News24 says that one of the top Bulls reporters Stephen Nell of Die Burger has been told by someone close to Meyer that Toulon has been interested in Meyer for several months.

“Other French clubs are also interested,” he is reported as saying , adding that Meyer would not make a hasty decision about his future after losing out to Peter de Villiers in the race to become the new Springbok coach.

“Heyneke is loyal to South African rugby.”

“The Blue Bulls will also do their utmost to retain his services but it is difficult to compete with pounds and euros.”
