Bristol and Wasps draw

The Bristol vs Wasps match at the Memorial Stadium ended in a draw. Bristol had a marginal 2 point lead at half time but Wasps came back to level the scores and force a draw.

Bristol led 20-13 with baout 20 minutes to go and then Wasps were awarded a penalty try.

After the match Bristol coach spoke to the BBC and questioned the try, “I have no idea why the penalty try was given. It was very disappointing, pretty mystifying, because we were on top in the scrum all day and there was no way Wasps would have pushed us over the line from that position.”

Wasps coach Ian McGeechan told the BBC that he thought Wasps might pull off a win after his team were awarded the penalty try, “This is not an easy place to come, and when we got the penalty try, I thought we had put ourselves in a position to win the game.”

Bristol’s Tom & Luke Arscott were the thorn in Wasps side as they managed to run in three tries between them.

Wasps fly-half Dan Cipriani’s boot was again on form and saw him kicking two conversions and three penalties.

With the result being a draw it means that Bristol stay in seventh place on the table while Wasps to climb one place to eighth.
