Ospreys will be a tough test : Gaffney

Alan Gaffney, the Saracens director of rugby, says he is under no illusions as to the size of the task his side face when they take on the Ospreys in the EDF Energy Cup semi-finals next year.

Ospreys got into the Semi-finals last night largely thanks to 19 points scored by Gavin Henson.

Saracens however sneaked through to the last four of the competition after securing two losing bonus points at Llanelli Scarlets on Saturday and will now take on last season’s beaten finalists on March 22 at the Millennium Stadium.

“Ospreys are a quality side packed with internationals and it’s going to be a very tough test for us,” Gaffney told This is Local London.

“Being the only Welsh team involved is going to give them an extra incentive and undoubtedly the home support which is something else we have to contend with.

“We are going to put it on the back-burner for a few months but it’s great to know that we are going to have an exciting day out in Cardiff.”

Ospreys head coach Lyn Jones added: “It’s good for the competition that there is a Welsh element. We are delighted to be there and we are looking forward to facing Saracens. We are certainly not underestimating the challenge they are going to pose us.”
