Injured Dawson to miss Heineken Cup opener

Ulster will be without their openside flanker Kieron Dawson for the Heineken Cup Pool Two opener against Gloucester at Ravenhill on Friday night.

Dawson played in the defeat 25-6 defeat by Glasgow Warriors and was stretchered off with a knee injury. Dawson will more than likely be replaced by Roger Wilson.

The match could see Kiwi centre Paul Steinmetz return after he suffered concussion in a pre-season friendly.


Coach Mark McCall will name his squad for the cup opening clash on Tuesday and will be looking for more from his men who are bottom of the Celtic League with one win in six matches.
