Lemi staying at Bristol

coach Richard Hill, with Lemi one of several big-name players pledging their futures to the Memorial Stadium.

“It’s important to secure the future of the key players,” said Hill, speaking to the Western Daily Press.

“There’s Dan Ward-Smith, Shaun Perry and Alfie To’oala under contract – and to get David Lemi is a big signing for us.

“We know he is sought-after and there have been a few clubs sniffing around for him. It’s a big statement for David to sign for us.”

“In the next couple of seasons we are looking to get some quality signings into the squad, but I don’t want to lose the quality players we already have.”

Lemi has been in impressive try-scoring form since his arrival at Bristol two years ago, crossing 27 times in 42 appearances.

And following his World Cup return, the 25-year-old added to his tally against Harlequins in the Guinness Premiership on Saturday.

“When I was approached about a new contract, I had no hesitation and am looking forward to Bristol enjoying further success in my time here,” said Lemi.
