James injury not a concern for Boks

The news from Jake White that Butch James suffered a hamstring injury on the day when it was revealed that Andre Pretorius might not make the Rugby World Cup was played down by the Bok team management.

James left the field with about half an hour to go of the Boks’ defeat to New Zealand in the Tri-Nations in Durban, and White said at the press conference that he had a hamstring injury, which was the reason he left the field.

However, White added later that James’ injury was not a major concern, and that he was likely to start in the next match, against Australia in Sydney in two weeks’ time.

“He left the field with a sore hammie,” said White.

“But it is not serious and we expect him to be fit for selection soon.”
