Pumas lock Thomas Lavanini has signed for the Argentina Rugby Union which makes him available for the un-named Super Rugby franchise, the Rugby Championship and Rugby World Cup.
Lavanini is currently in Sydney with his team Pumas mates preparing for the Rugby Championship and has won 18 caps for Argentina after making his debut in 2013.
The twenty-two-year-old lock started his career playing for Hind?? in the Argentinean capital before making the move to Racing Metro.
“I am very happy with agreeing to terms,” he said. “It’s great that it’s all done”.
“It will be amazing to play Super Rugby and keep playing for Los Pumas”.
In congratulating Lavanini, UAR president Carlos Araujo added, “We continue the process of arming the squad for the important commitments that come as we join Super Rugby.
“Thomas’s presence is important as he is important player for his youth, value and the future years that lies ahead.”
Lavanini has signed with the UAR from 1 January 2016 until December 31, 2018.
