Brumbies beat Stormers in Cape Town

Out of the last six Super Rugby matches between the Cape Town based Stormers and the Canberra based Brumbies both teams have won three matches each.

We are waiting for the kick off. 

Note: Schalk Burger has been ruled out of the Stormers match against the Brumbies. Michael Rhodes comes in at No.6 and Sikhumbuzo Notshe is on the replacements bench. 

0.01: The Brumbies kick off and we are underway. The ball is taken by the Stormers and they kick it into touch. 

1.00: The Brumbies lose their first line out and the Stormers attack. The Brumbies turn the ball over and attack. Jesse Mogg makes a break but slips on the field – it has been raining. 

2.00: The Brumbies go through 9 phases and keep pushing the Stormers back to their 22. On the 22 the Stormers turn the ball over but then lose it. They get the ball back and Demetri Catrakilis kicks for touch. 

3.00: The Brumbies win the line out, they spread the ball wide and then chip through and Joe Tomane chases and scores. TRY!  Matt Toomua has gone down and has to be helped back up by the medics. 

5.00: Christian Lealiifano takes the conversion kick but he misses. Toomua is back up but will go for a concussion test. He walks off. 

7.00: The Stormers overshoot their line out and the ball is kicked out by the Brumbies. The Stormers win the following line out and the ball goes from side to side with the boot and the Brumbies win territory. 

8.00: The Stormers win the line out. They use the pick and go and the Stormers go in from the side. Penalty to the Brumbies. Nic White kicks for touch. 

10.00: The Stormers win a line out and attack down the line. Seabelo Senatla slips through and makes some ground, the Stormers have an advantage and then that becomes a penalty. Stormers kick for touch and the line out. 

12.00: Stormers win the line out and then a penalty from the breakdown. Catrakilis takes the penalty kick and nails it. 

15.00: The Brumbies kick high and chase. The Brumbies win the ball back and send the ball out wide to Joe Tomane who scores in the corner. TRY! His second. 

16.00; Lealiifano takes the conversion from almost the touchline. He misses again. 

18.00: Nizaam Carr takes a knock in an Ita Vaea but carries on. Carr knocks on. 

20.00: The Stormers win a scrum and run the ball. Damian de Allende breaks three tackles and is then brought down. The Stormers keep up the attack and then win a penalty. 

21.00: Catrakilis kicks for touch and the 5m line out. 

22.00: Stormers win the line out and attack on the 5m line. The attack fizzes out and the Brumbies get a free kick. They kick for touch. 

25.00: The Brumbies win a scrum and Tomane slips through and races to the line and scores. TRY! Hat trick. Tomane just shoved off Dillyn Leyds with one hand and left the Stormers dead. Joe Tomane has become first Brumbies player since Mark Gerrard in 2004 to score a hat-trick in a Super Rugby Finals game.

26.00: Lealiifano  slots the conversion. 

28.00: De Allende goes on his own down the wing and then chips ahead but Nic White gets back and dots the ball down. 

30.00: The Stormers are fighting back. De Allende chips for the corner and Senatla chases but he kicks the ball too hard and it goes over the dead ball line. 

33.00: The Brumbies clear the ball and then chase it. At the breakdown the Brumbies concede a penalty. Catrakilis takes the penalty kick and nails it. 

35.00; Brumbies win a line out and kick upfield. Lleyds makes the mark. 

36.00: A pass from Scott Fardy to David Pocock goes forward so there will be a scrum in the Stormers half. 

38.00: Stormers get the ball downfield with a line out. The Brumbies win the ball and kick upfield. The Stormers counter and Senatla chips the ball ahead but loses the race to Nic White. 

39.00: The Brumbies turn the ball over and Scott Fardy puts in a touch finder. 

40.00:The Brumbies win the line out and go for the line 5m out. 

41.00: The Brumbies drive over the line after several attacks and Scott Sio powers over. TRY! He took about four Stormers with him. 

Lealiifano slots the conversion and its half time.

Demetri Catrakilis kicks off and the second half is underway. 

44.00The Brumbies work the ball down to the Stormers half. They win a line out and pass down the line but Cheslin Kolbe gets an intercept and races away to the line and scores. TRY! 

45.00: Catrakilis slots the conversion. 

46.00: The Brumbies are caught offside in the Stormers half. The Stormers signal that they will kick for posts. 

48.00: Catrakilis takes the kick from about 30m out. He nails it. 

49.00: The Brumbies win a penalty back in front of the posts. Lealiifano takes the kick and nails it. 

52.00: The Stormers go on the attack in the Brumbies 22. The Stormers win a penalty and kick for touch and the line out. 

53.00: Stormers make a mess of the line out and the Brumbies come away with the ball. They run and then kick the ball into touch into the Stormers half. 

55.00: Penalty to the Stormers for a late tackle. They kick for touch. 

56.00: The Stormers win the line out and try the maul. It collapses. The Stormers pick and go. 

57.00: The Brumbies turn the ball over and kick upfield. Ita Vaea is down – he may have to come off. The Stormers lose another line out. brumbies kick upfield. 

58.00: The Stormers lose the ball forward. Bongi Mbonambi is replaced by Scarra Ntubeni.

59.00: The Stormers scrum wins a penalty. Big scrum. Catrakilis will kick for posts. He nails it. 

62.00: The Brumbies work the ball to the line. They have a couple of goes at the line and then Vaea goes over. The grounding is fine but we go to the TMO. The try is awarded. 

64.00: Lealiifano slots the conversion. 

66.00: The Brumbies and Tomane could be in for another try here.. Dillyn Lleyds goes back to gather an upfield kick. Mogg tackles him and he loses the ball. Tomane arrives and gets the ball which has come loose. Tomane goes over and scores. However the try is not awarded as Mogg’s tackle was high. No try and a penalty instead. 

68.00: Tevita Kuridrani almost gets away for a try but loses the ball as he runs with it. 

71.00: The Stormers win a line out and use the maul. They get to the tryline but are kept out. They go through 9  phases and keep the ball moving. 

73.00: Jesse Mogg gets a loose ball and races away. He is caught by Senatla. As that happens Henry Speight tackles Juan de Jongh and drives him into the ground. After a TMO review Speight is red carded. 

74.00: Scott Fardy is yellow carded for pulling a maul down so the Brumbies will finish with 13 players on the field. 

75.00:The Stormers try to maul over the line but they are held up. 

76.00: Somehow the Brumbies come away with the ball on the Stormers put in and Nic White kicks the ball upfield and into touch.  

78.00: The Brumbies win the ball from a line out. They keep the ball tight and then go and Jesse Mogg slips through on the wing and scores. TRY! The Brumbies have scored with 13 players. 

The conversion is missed. That is it.
