Clermont sign Chiefs winger Hosea Gear

European Rugby Champions Cup and Top 14 finalists Clermont have announced that they have signed former All Black winger Hosea Gear on a two-year contract.

Clermont reached the European Rugby cup final this season as well as the Top 14 final but were beaten in both matches.

The thirty-one-year-old winger won 14 caps for New Zealand’s All Blacks and joins the French Top14 Rugby club from the Chiefs.

Gear is familiar with French rugby as he played a season , 2013-14, for Clermont’s rivals Toulouse.

Clermont said their recruitment drive for next season was now over, having already signed wingers David Strettle and Adrien Plante, flanker Camille Gerondeau, lock Flip Van der Merwe and full-back Scott Spedding, while centre Waisake Naholo was still to sign his deal.
