Sharks sign yet another Cheetahs player

Durban based Super Rugby franchise the Sharks have announced that they have signed former Cheetahs loose forward Phillip van der Walt.

The Sharks made the announcement on Twitter but did not reveal the length of the signing and did not confirm whether it was from the 2016 season.

Twenty-five-year-old Van der Walt played in France for Biarritz in 2014 but has returned to South Africa.

The Sharks have already signed Cheetahs fullbacks Willie Le Roux and Joe Pietersen for next season.

The signing is on contrast to CEO JOhn Smit’s comments earlier this season on Facebook when he said that they would be “creating a young pipeline of talent that will secure our future for years”.
