Waratahs beat Crusaders in Sydney

Out of the last six Super Rugby matches between the Sydney based Waratahs and the Christchurch based Crusaders the Sydney side have won one and the Christchurch side five.

We are waiting for the kick off. 

Israel Dagg injured himself in the warm up and will not be replaced so the Crusaders will play with just 22 players. 

The Crusaders kick off and we are underway. 

2.00: Taqele Naiyaravoro loses the ball from the kick off. The Crusaders go through 12 phases on attack in the Waratahs 22 and then Nemani Nadolo races for the corner and scores. TRY! 

3.00: Carter misses the conversion. 

5.00: The Waratahs get a chance to attack. They go through four phases and get to the 5m line. They change sides and Folau goes for the line but passes off to Taqele Naiyaravoro who scores in the corner. TRY! 

7.00: Bernard Foley slots the conversion from outwide. 

9.00: Bernard Foley almost gets an intercept. He is called back and the Crusaders get a penalty. 

11.00: The Crusaders work the ball up to the tryline with a 20m maul. They go over the line so we go to the TMO to check if the ball was grounded. No try but the Crusaders have a penalty. Carter lines up the kick. 

12.00: Carter slots the penalty and the Crusaders lead. 

14.00: The Waratahs attack down the wing but get stopped. The Crusaders turn the ball over who go through three phases and then concede a penalty for side entry. 

16.00: Kurtley Beale takes the penalty kick but misses. 

17.00: After the restart. Will Skelton and Tolu Latu picks up Sam Whitelock and they dump him on the ground. A punch was also thrown. We go to the TMO to check foul play. Tolu Latu is yellow carded for lifting. 

18.00: Carter kicks for touch with the resulting penalty. The Line out has to be thrown again. It completes and the Crusaders concede a penalty. Foley will kick for posts. 

20.00: Foley lines up the kick, takes the shot and he nails it. Waratahs lead. 

23.00: The Crusaders move the ball down the line. Carter’s ball to Salde is dropped and Rob Horne picks up the ball and races for the line and scores. TRY!

24.00: Foley adds the conversion. That 10 points with a man in the bin. 

28.00: The Crusaders have the ball on the half way line. The Waratahs defence is tight. The Crusaders lose the ball forward and Adam Ashley-Cooper counter attacks but the ball is chipped into touch. Latu comes back on. 

31.00: Sekope Kepu picks up a knocked on ball and passes to Stephen Hoiles gets through the Crusaders. He is caught but gets the ball away to Foley who goes over in the corner. The TMO is called in and the try is ruled out due to an earlier knock on. Crusaders loose passing is helping the Waratahs. 

33.00; Kurtley Beale makes a break and gets the Waratahs on the front foot in the Crusaders 22. 

34.00: The Waratahs continue working the ball through the phases. 22 phases but then they knock on 2m out. 

35.00: Colin Slade has been replaced. Dan Carter goes to 10. Jone Macilai comes on. 

37.00: The Crusaders press the Waratahs back into their 22 even though the Waratahs have the ball. The Waratahs try to clear but the Crusaders are offside so the Waratahs have a penalty. Foley kicks for touch. 

40.00: The ball is kicked into touch as the siren sounds. It is half time.

The Waratahs kick off and we are underway with the second half. 

42.00: The Waratahs go through 12 phases on the attack in the Crusaders 22. The Crusaders concede a penalty so the Waratahs will kick for posts. 

43.00: Foley slots the penalty.

47.00: The Crusaders concede a penalty for the front row collapsing. Foley lines up the kick but misses. 

51.00: The Waratahs attack in the Crusaders 22. They show some quick hands and Folau offloads to Taqele Naiyaravoro who slides over in the corner. TRY! 

52.00: Foley lines up the conversion but he hits the post and misses. 

54.00: Israel Folau tries to clear the ball behind the posts and the ball is charged down. The ball bounces back and goes over the dead ball line. 5m scrum. 26,971 in attendance in Sydney. 

55.00: The Crusaders win the scrum and Nadolo bursts through but then passes off to Richie McCaw who scores. TRY! 

56.00: Carter adds the conversion to cut the gap to 10 points.

57.00: After the restart Skelton takes out Mccaw without the ball and the Crusaders have a penalty. The ref goes to the TMO. Penalty only. Carter kicks for touch and the line out. 

58.00; Matt Todd has come on for the Crusaders. It’s not clear who he has replaced. The TMO is called in again for foul play as the assistant reports a dropped shoulder on Sam Whitelock. Nothing comes of it. 

62.00: The Crusaders get some attacking ball but knock on. Matt Carraro comes on for Naiyaravoro. 

63.00: Penalty to the Crusaders from the scrum. They kick for touch. Crusaders win the line out and set up the maul. Skelton takes it to ground so the Crusaders have a penalty again. They take the line out. 

65.00: The Crusaders win the line out and drive for the line. The Waratahs almost push them out but the Crusaders get over the line and score. TRY! Matt Todd. 

66.00: Dan Carter takes the conversion kick from the touchline. He nails it. Great kick. 

69.00: The Waratahs look to hit back. They work the ball into the Crusaders and win a penalty. They take the line out which they win but the Crusaders kill off the move and get the put in. 

70.00: The Crusaders lose Richie McCaw to the sin bin for side entry. 

73.00: The Waratahs try to attack the Crusaders but Skelton knocks on. The Crusaders counter attack but they lose the ball too. The Waratahs are offside so the Crusaders have a penalty. Carter kicks for touch. 

74.00: Skelton steals the line out and the Waratahs kick upfield. 

77.00: Bernard Foley chips and chases from the back of a scrum. He gets the ball on the 5m line and slides the distance and goes over to score. TRY! Bonus point. 

Foley adds the conversion. 

80.00: The siren sounds. The ball goes dead and the whistle goes. 

That’s it. The Waratahs have won.
