Queensland Reds v Sharks Super Rugby Preview

Out of the last six Super Rugby matches between the Brisbane based Queensland Reds and the Durban based Sharks the Brisbane side have won two and the Sharks four.

Overall the Reds have played the Sharks 17 times since 1998 and the Reds have won nine matches and lost eight. There have been no draws between the teams.

That gives the Reds a record of winning 53% of their matches against the Sharks and the average score when the teams meet is Reds 23 Sharks 25.

This weekend the match will be played in Brisbane which is home for the Reds and where the teams have met 8 times. In those eight matches the Reds have won 6 times and lost two. That gives the Reds a record of winning 75% of their home matches against the Sharks.

The average score when the Reds play the Sharks in Brisbane is Reds 23 Sharks 25.

The Reds are currently in 14th place in the Super Rugby standings having played 12 matches and won three. They have played six matches at home and won two.

The Sharks are in 11th place in the standings having played 13 matches and won just four. They are currently on a six match losing streak and have played 7 matches away from home and won one.

After beating the Rebels last week the Reds have made one injury enforced change for this week. Lachie Turner has been replaced by Chris Kuridrani due to concussion. This means that Graham has named his most consistent week-to-week lineup this season.

The Sharks have also made one change for this week as Tendai ‘Beast’ Mtawarira replaces Dale Chadwick in the starting line up. Chadwick remains in the match day squad but drops to the replacements and pushed Matt Stevens out of the 23.

Fred Zeilinga will make his return through the replacements bench and he replaces Waylon Murray and Mouritz Botha comes in for Giant Mtyanda.

The Bookies have given the Sharks a 1 point start for this Match – with an offer of a FREE $150 BET. The Sharks have been getting closer and closer in recent weeks. Last week they were unlucky and could easily have been the winners if some of the referee calls went the other way. The Reds were at their best for 2015 last week but can they do it again ? We think the Sharks will edge this one by 2.

This Match will be shown on TV in NZ, Aus, SA and in the UK on Sky Sports 3/HD.
