Brumbies happy to be leaving SA with six points

Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham says the Canberra Super Rugby franchise will leave South Africa feeling a lot happier than they expected to last week after they beat the Lions this week.

The Brumbies will now head back to Canberra on top of the Australian Conference with a bye ahead but with six points in the bag from their two South African matches.

A losing bonus point from their narrow loss to the Stormers and a bonus point win against the Lions in Johannesburg earned the Lions six points from a potential 10.

In 2014 the Brumbies failed to claim a point from their tour of South Africa so six points is a huge turnaround.

Three tries in the first half set the win up, with Nic White steering the team around brilliantly in a man-of-the-match display

“We feel 1000 times better than last week,” said Brumbies head coach Larkham.

“I thought the boys played really well particularly in that first half, our defence was solid and we created quite a few turnovers and managed to score those three tries,” Larkham said.

“In the second half we did a lot of defending and I think the altitude probably got to us a bit but the boys dug deep and we got the exact result we were after in the end.”

The Brumbies have a bye next week but return in Round 16 with a home match in Canberra against the Bulls.
