Chiefs lose Sonny Bill and Lowe for Hurricanes clash

The Chiefs will take on the Hurricanes this weekend without Sonny Bill Williams and James Lowe as both players were forced to withdraw due to injury.

Sonny Bill Williams has a back strain which is only expected to keep him out for this week and James Lowe’s shoulder injury has flared up again after training.

New Zealand U20’s stand-out player, Anton Lienert-Brown will replace Sonny Bill Williams and Bryce Heem will move to the left wing, with Marty McKenzie coming onto the bench.

The personal contest between Williams and All Blacks rival Ma’a Nonu was to be one of the highlights of the contest but this will now not happen.

The loss of the two players is a major blow for the Chiefs who are already 10 points behind the Hurricanes in the standings.
