Rebels beat Blues in Melbourne

Out of the last three Super Rugby matches between the Melbourne based Rebels and the Auckland based Blues the Auckland side have won two and the Rebels one.

We are waiting for the kick off.

Ihaia West kicks off and we are underway. 

1.00: The Blues make a positive start as they win the ball back and press the Rebels back to their 5m line. They do however concede a penalty. 

2.00: The Rebels kick for touch. 

5.00: Penalty to the Rebels. Mike Harris takes the shot and he nails it. The Rebels lead. 

7.00: The Blues go through 11 phases on attack. They get the ball over the line but they can’t get the ball down. The Rebels turn the ball over and kick for touch. 

10.00: Jack Debreczeni gets the ball from an intercept for the Rebels, they keep the ball alive going through the hands and the break ends with Colby Fainga’a scoring the first TRY! 

12.00: Mike Harris misses the conversion. 

16.00: Francis Saili has a run for the Blues and gets them into the Rebels 22. The Blues press the Rebels back to their 5m line. 

18.00: The Blues work the ball up to the line. Keven Mealamu goes for the ball at the line but knocks on. 

21.00: The Blues attack down the wing and Saili almost gets the ball away to Tevita Li but he puts a foot in touch. 

24.00: The Blues set up their attack in the Rebels 22 but the Rebels turn the ball over and they attack.

25.00: The Rebels go through 6 phases and then they get into space and run the ball into the Blues 22. 

28.00: The Blues clear the ball from a ruck and Saili sends a long pass out to Melani Nanai who gets the ball at pace and races in to score. TRY! 

29.00: Ihaia West just slips the conversion in. 

32.00: Penalty to the Rebels. Harris takes the kick from in front but outside the 22. He nails it. 

35.00: The Blues go on the attack but the Rebels go in with some big hits and one from Toby Smith wins them a penalty. The Rebels kick for touch. 

36.00: The Rebels take a quick line out and they catch the Blues sleeping. Toby Smith races for the line and goes over to score. The TMO will check. All angles are checked and the TRY is awarded. 

37.00: Mike Harris takes the conversion kick and curls it in off the post. 

39.00; The Blues have the ball in the Rebels 22. They work the ball through six phases and win a penalty. 

40.00: The siren sounds and the half will finish with West kicking for posts. He nails it.

The Rebels kick off and we are underway with the second half. 

42.00: The Rebels make the stronger start of the two teams. They work the ball into the Blues 22 but the passing is a bit too loose and they knock on. 

44.00: The Scrum has to be reset. 

47.00: The Blues run the ball into the Rebels 22 but Jordy Reid steals the ball and the Rebels kick for touch. The game is held up for an injury to Tony Woodcock. 

49.00: The Blues take a quick tap penalty and they quickly spread the ball wide and Jamison Gibson-Park – who has just come on – slips under and scores. TRY! 

49.00: Ihaia West slots the conversion. It’s a one point game. 

51.00: The Rebels hit straight back by working the ball into the Blues 22. Scott Higginbotham gets the ball and dives over the line to become the highest try scoring forward in Super Rugby with 30 tries. TRY! (he overtakes Owen Finnegan)

52.00:Mike Harris slots the conversion. 

56.00: The Rebels are back on the charge. They get the ball into the Blues 22 and put the Blues under pressure and it wins them a penalty. The initial break was from Lopeti Timani. Harris will kick for posts. 

57.00:Harris takes the shot and nails it. 

61.00: There is a break in play as Lolagi Visinia gets some attention and then limps from the field.

64.00: The Blues go through six phases and work the ball up to the line. They go over but are held up. 

66.00: The Blues keep up the pressure and this time George Moala powers for the line and drops on it and scores. TRY! 

67.00: Ihaia West misses the conversion. 

68.00: From the restart, Scott higginbotham gets a hand to the ball and knocks it to the ground, Dom Shipperley gets the ball and races for the line to score. The TMO checks and the TRY is awarded. Bonus point. 

69.00: Harris slots the conversion. He nails it. 

73.00: The Blues attack the Rebels in their 22 and they almost stretch the Rebels defence but the ball goes into touch. 

75.00: The Blues try to run the ball but lose it and the Rebels kick deep for touch. 

78.00: The Rebels run the ball from deep and Shipperley slips a tackle out wide and passes to Jack Debreczeni who runs in the TRY without being touched. 

79.00: Harris slots the conversion as the siren sounds. 

Thats it. The Rebels win.
