Crusaders beat Reds in Christchurch

Out of the last five Super Rugby matches between the Christchurch based Crusaders and Brisbane based Reds the Crusaders have won three and the Reds two.

We are waiting for the kick off.

The Crusaders kick off and we are underway. 

2.00: The Crusaders run the ball after winning it back from the Reds. They press the Reds back and Matt Todd passes the ball off to Nemani Nadolo who powers through two tackles and passes back inside to Andy Ellis who scores. TRY !

3.00: Colin Slade adds the conversion. 

5.00: Penalty to the Reds. James O’Connor takes the kick and nails it from a fair distance out. The Reds are on the board. 

8.00: The Reds enjoy some continuity with the ball. They work the ball from their half almost to the Crusaders 22 but then the Crusaders turn the ball over. 

9.00: The Crusaders go through a couple of phases but then knock on. 

13.00:Scrum penalty to the Reds. The Reds kick for touch and set up a line out 27m out. 

14.00: The Reds win the line out and work the ball into the Crusaders 22. 

15.00: The Reds go through the phases but then knock on in the Crusaders 22. 

16.00: The Crusaders win the scrum and kick for touch. Lachlan Turner almost gets the ball but misses and it goes into touch. 

17.00: The Crusaders win the line out. They pass the ball down the line and Slade passes to Dan Carter who breaks one and passes back inside to Slade who uses his pace and races for the line to score. TRY! 

18.00: Slade misses the conversion from in front. 

20.00; The Crusaders almost get through again and Andy Ellis tries a grubber but with two players outside him but Nick Frisby blocks it. 

22.00: The Crusaders win a line out and again Colin Slade slips through. He passes to Codie Taylor who races for the line but is just caught by James Slipper. 

26.00: Wyatt Crockett concedes a penalty. The Reds kick for touch. The Reds work the ball to the Crusaders 5m line. They try to drive over the line with the maul but the Crusaders defence holds firm and the ball goes dead. Crusaders scrum.  

29.00: The Crusaders win the scrum. Nadolo kicks and chases and pushes Turner into touch winning the line out put in. 

30.00: the Crusaders win the line out and attack in the Reds 22. The Reds concede a penalty. Slade takes the kick and nails it. 

33.00: The Reds win a penalty and will kick for posts. The penalty count so far is Reds 2 Crusaders 6. The Reds kick for touch and set up a line out in the Crusaders 22. 

34.00: Dominic Bird is yellow carded so he is off for 10 minutes. The Reds win the resulting line out and they drive for the line but as they go over they concede a penalty. 

37.00: The Crusaders mess up a line out in their 22. The Reds get the ball and attack. 

38.00: The Crusaders defend the Reds attack but then concede a penalty. The Reds kick for touch and the line out. Reds win the line out and after some initial forward pressure Samu Kerevi gets the ball and powers over the line. TRY! 

39.00: James O’Connor takes the conversion and nails it. 

Its half time. 71% territory for the Reds in that half.

The Reds kick off and the second half is underway. 

41.00: Nemani Nadolo gets an intercept pass as the Reds attack and he races down the wing to the tryline. Frisby gets to him at the line but Nadolo scores. TRY! The Crusaders still have 14 players. 

42.00: Slade curls the conversion in. 

44.00: Penalty to the Reds. James O’Connor takes the shot but misses. 

48.00: The Crusaders work the ball into the Reds 22. The win a penalty from the scrum and Slade indicates that he will take the shot at the posts. 

49.00: Slade slots the penalty. 

53.00: The Crusaders remain on the attack and Nadolo snipes down the wing and he crashes over in the corner. That’s the bonus point TRY! 

54.00: Slade curls the conversion in again from the touchline. Drummond comes on for Ellis. 

55.00:After the restart Sam Whitelock gets the ball and races from his half, stepping from side to side about 60m and scores. TRY! Fantastic individual TRY! 

55.00; Slade adds the conversion. Richi McCaw comes on. 

58.00: Oh boy the flodgates are opening. The Crusaders get the ball from the restart and they run the ball. Nadolo passes the ball to Matt Todd who runs in the sixth Crusaders try. The Reds are falling off the tackles. Jone Macilai comes on. 

59.00: Slade slots the conversion. 

61.00: The Reds hold on to the ball and work the ball to the Crusaders 5m line. The Crusaders turn the ball over and chip it behind the Reds who have to scramble. 

62.00: The Crusaders turn the ball over and Fonotia makes ground but is caught. The Crusaders keep the ball alive and Jone Macilai bashes through and scores. TRY! 

63.00: Slade takes the conversion kick but misses. 

67.00: The Reds win a line out but the Crusaders are up so quickly that Genia drops the ball. The Reds gather the ball and try to run it out of their 22. When they are shut down they kick for touch. 

71.00: The Crusaders work the ball up to the Reds tryline. Macilai almost scores but the Crusaders recycle and Dominic Bird goes over to score. TRY! 

71.00: Slade slots the conversion. 

75.00: The Crusaders have the ball and they are in the Reds 22. They are slow to clear the ball so the Reds turn the ball over and try to attack from deep. 

78.00: The Reds hold on to the ball and attack the Crusaders in the home side’s 22. Chris Feauai-Sautia almost gets through but he is caught. 

79.00: The Reds recycle and he goes again and this time he scores. TRY! James O’Connor slots the conversion. 

80.00; The siren sounds. The Reds play on. They show some good hands as they keep the ball alive. The Crusaders win a penalty. They kick for touch and that is it. 

The Crusaders have won.
