Waratahs beat Brumbies in Canberra

Out of the last five Super Rugby matches between the Canberra based Brumbies and the Sydney based Waratahs the Brumbies have one and the Waratahs four.

We are waiting for the kick off.

The Brumbies kick off and we are underway in Canberra. 

1.00; The Waratahs make a powerful start with some big tackles but they turn the ball over and knock on. The Waratahs then win a penalty from the scrum. 

2.00: Bernard Foley kicks for touch and sets up the line out. 

Tatafu Polota-Nau goes down after taking a knock. Replays show him faceplanting the field. The medics come in and Polota-Nau comes off for head test. Tolu Latu comes on. 

3.00: The game resumes with a line out to the Brumbies. The Brumbies win the win line out and move the ball down the line. 

4.00: The Waratahs turn the ball over and attack but Kurtley Beale loses the ball. 

7.00: The Brumbies work the ball into the Waratahs 22 afetr a break from Christian Lealiifano. Coleman sends a long wide pass out to Joe Tomane who catches the ball and slips over in the corner. TRY! 

9.00: Lealiifano takes the kick and curls the conversion in. 

13.00: The Waratahs go through 10 phases on the attack. They get the ball to the line and Robinson goes over but he is held and they win a penalty advantage but send the ball out wide and Adam Ashley-Cooper slips over and scores. TRY!  Polota-Nau is staying off. 

14.00:Bernard Foley slots the conversion. 

18.00: The Brumbies win a penalty in the Waratahs 22. They discuss and then choose to kick for the corner. The Waratahs grab the ball and kick well upfield. 

21.00: Penalty to the Brumbies. Lealiifano takes the kick from in front but misses. 

26.00: The Brumbies win a penalty from the scrum after the Waratahs front row collapses. They will kick for posts. 

27.00: Lealiifano takes the kick and this time he nails it. Brumbies lead. 

31.00: Christian Lealiffano has taken a knock. He gets some help from the medics but carries on. Michael Hooper is also bleeding a little and may have to come off for blood. 

32.00: Penalty to the Waratahs from the scrum. Foley kicks for touch. Lealiifano reluctantly comes off for a head test. Waratahs win the line out. Pocock steals the ball but the Waratahs win a penalty for leaving the feet. Foley will kick for posts. 

33.00: Foley takes the kick from almost the half way line but misses. Direction was off but he had the distance. 

37.00: The Waratahs win a scrum and kick deep. The ball goes to Robbie Coleman who boots it back to the Waratahs. The Waratahs counter attack and win a penalty after three phases. Hooper is double high tackled.

38.00: Foley kicks for touch and Lealiifano comes back on. 

39.00: The Waratahs win the line out but the ball goes dead at the breakdown. Waratahs get an attacking scrum on the Brumbies 22. 

40.00: The siren sounds as the ball goes into the scrum. The Waratahs win it but pass forward. 

Its half time.

Bernard Foley kicks off and the second half is underway

42.00: The Waratahs Beale kicks upfield and Jesse Mogg and Israel Folau chase the ball but Mogg just gets to the ball first. Waratahs are upping the pressure. 

43.00: The Waratahs knock on after a break by Will Skelton. The ball is kicked into touch. 

47.00: Penalty to the Waratahs as Alexander was offside at the ruck. Kurtley Beale takes the kick as it is about 45m out in front. He nails it and the scores are level. 

55.00: The Waratahs go through the phases on attack but not really going anywhere. The Waratahs get an advantage and play on. When the Brumbies intercept the whistle goes for a penalty. 

56.00: Foley will take the kick for posts. Foley slots the kick and the Waratahs lead the Brumbies for the first time. 

61.00: Penalty to the Brumbies on the half way line. They kick for touch and set up the line out. The ball goes out on the Waratahs 22. 

63.00: The Brumbies win the line out and force the Waratahs to take it back into touch. 

64.00: The Brumbies win a line out in the Waratahs 22. They set up the maul and Rob Horne comes in from the side. He is yellow carded and the Brumbies choose another line out – on the 5m line. 

65.00: The Brumbies win the line out but Pocock gets isolated in the maul. He just manages to get the ball out and the Brumbies continue the attack. The Waratahs turn the ball over and run it almost to the half way line. Penalty to the Waratahs. They kick for touch. 

67.00; The Brumbies win a penalty from the break down. Pococok stays down as everyone else gets up from the breakdown. He may have dislocated a finger. The game is paused while the medics sort him out. 

70.00: The Brumbies get into space and Pocock offloads to Joe Tomane. He is caught outwide and the scrum is awarded to the Waratahs. 

73.00: The Brumbies insist on running the ball. Coleman snipes towards the line but he is shoved into touch 8m out after a break from Tevita Kuridrani. The pass was forward so the Waratahs have a scrum. 

77.00: The match is still an armwrestle. The Brumbies get a line out near the half way line. The ball is stolen by the Waratahs but the ball goes dead. Brumbies scrum. 

79.00: Penalty to the Brumbies. Lealiifano kicks for touch as they want the victory. The line out will be 20m out. 

80.00: The Brumbies win the line out. The siren sounds. The maul goes to ground but the Brumbies keep the ball alive. 

81.00: The Brumbies go from side to side and gradually get closer to the line but then the whistle goes for a penalty to the Waratahs. 

Foley kicks the ball into touch. Thats it the Waratahs have won.
