Stormers beat Bulls in Cape Town

Out of the last five Super Rugby matches between the Cape Town based Stormers and the Pretoria based Bulls and the Stormers have won three and the Bulls two.

The Bulls kick off and we are underway. 

03.0; The Stormers sustain some pressure from the Bulls and Demetri Catrakilis kicks for touch. 

2.00: The Stormers win a penalty from the scrum. Catrakilis kicks for touch and the line out. 

4.00: Penalty to the Stormers in the Bulls 22. They will kick for posts. 

5.00: Catrakilis takes the kick and nails it. The Stormers lead. 

9.00: The Stormers are on full attack. The Bulls have to scramble in defence but survive. 

12.00: Penalty to the Stormers. Catrakilis takes the kick from almost in front. He nails it. 

14.00: The Stormers set up a line out in the Bulls 22. They win the line out and run the ball. Catrakilis slips on the fourth phase so the Bulls wil have a scrum. 

18.00: All of the play has been in the Bulls half. The Stormers attack after a line out and they almost get through but are called back for a penalty. Pierre Spies gets a warning. 

20.00: Catrakilis slots the penalty. 

22.00: There is a break in play as Duanne Vermeulen is injured. He carries on. 

24.00: The Bulls get the ball down into the Stormers half. They win a penalty from the scrum. Pollard will kick for posts. He nails it. The Bulls are on the board. 

28.00: Burger Odendaal gets some help from the medics and then goes off to the blood bin after taking a knock on his nose. Tian Schoeman comes on. 

29.00: The game is being played in the Stormers half now. The Stormers are under pressure. Bjorn Basson almost gets through. 

30.00: Penalty to the Stormers. Catrakilis kicks for touch and the line out. 

34.00: The Bulls kick high after a scrum and chase. The Stormers win the ball and kick. The Bulls get the ball and kick back. It changes sides again and again and the Bulls decide to run the ball. 

36.00: The Stormers turn the ball over and go through 6 phases on attack. Groom chips through and the ball goes into touch. Odendaal comes back on. 

39.00; Cheslin Kolbe gets the ball from De Allende and he slips through the Bulls and Juan de Jongh races to the line and scores before being called back for a forward pass. The Stormers do however win a penalty. 

41.00: Catrakilis takes the kick and nails it.

Catrakilis kicks off and we are underway with the second half. 

41.00: The Stormers go through several phases on attack. They get into the Bulls 22. Groom loses the ball in the tackle and the Bulls counter. Francois Hougaard splits the Stormers defence and passes to JJ Engelbrecht he gets the ball to Bjorn Basson who races down the wing and scores. TRY !

43.00: Pollard adds the conversion. 

45.00: Penalty to the Stormers. Catrakilis takes the kick and nails it giving the home side some breathing space. Deon Stegmann comes off. 

51.00: Scarra Ntubeni comes on for Bongi Mbonambi. The scrum has to be reset. The Stormers retain the put in. 

55.00: The Bulls win a penalty from the scrum. Vermeulen wants to discuss it with referee Peyper but he is not interested at all. Pollard takes the shot and nails it. Kurt Coleman comes on for Catrakilis. 

57.00: Trevor Nyakane is tackled by Frans Malherbe. They both go down hard. Malherbe is replaced by Vincent Kock and Nyakane stays on for now. 

61.00; Penalty to the Bulls for not rolling away – Schalk Burger. Pollard will kick for posts. Pollard’s kick is well wide so the scores stay the same. 

63.00: Kurt Coleman’s restart is a shocker as it goes straight out into touch. Schalk Burger is replaced. 

67.00: The Bulls try to counter attack from a Stormers territory kick but they get pushed into touch. Oli Kebble comes on for Steven Kitshoff. 

68.00: The Bulls are starting to look dangerous with ball in hand. 

72.00: The Stormers win a scrum on the half way line from the scrum. Coleman kicks for touch but doesn’t find it and Hougaard makes the mark. The ball is kicked from end to end and then kicked out into touch by the Bulls. 

77.00: Pollard lines up for the drop goal, he goes for it but it is charged down. Vermeulen chases and gets to the ball first. The Stormers recycle the ball and they get to the ball to the 5m line but they knock on. 

80.00: The Stormers will have a scrum on the 5m line. They power over the Bulls scrum and the ball pops out at the back as the siren sounds. The Bulls get the ball and try to run it out.

81.00: The Stormers turn the ball over and kick it into touch and win the match.
