Chiefs start McKenzie against the Western Force

The Chiefs have named a Super Rugby team with several changes to play the Western Force at Waikato Stadium in Hamilton in a special Anzac fixture.

Chiefs coach Dave Rennie has given Marty McKenzie his first start of the season in the No 10 jersey, taking over from Aaron Cruden who is awaiting knee surgery.

Prop Siate Tokolahi gets a start in the front row with lock Matt Symons taking over the captaincy duties with Johan Bardoul replacing Liam Messam who will miss this match due to agreed All Blacks break requirements.

Tim Nanai Williams moves to the left wing with Bryce Heem starting on the right wing. Ben Tameifuna moves to the bench and is joined by Damian McKenzie.

Fans are encouraged to get to the ground early for the match day events that will honour and remember those who lost their lives in the 100 years since New Zealand and Australian soldiers fought at Gallipoli including the thirteen All Blacks, many New Zealand community rugby players, club members and officials who paid the ultimate sacrifice during the period of World War 1.

Teams will enter the field of play simultaneously and line up for the ANZAC remembrance that will include a 100 person haka with the Chiefs Maori Toa group, The Ode, the Last Post, a moments silence and the national anthems.

The Chiefs playing jersey will feature a poppy to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Gallipoli and Anzac Day.

Poppies will be available at each gate by way of donation, with the proceeds going to the RSA.

People attending the match are encouraged to bring a spare poppy or purchase another one to place on the large wreath that will be on the concourse and be laid on the sideline of the field during the match.
