Fleck: Stormers camp in an especially good mood

Backline coach Robbie Fleck says that there is a great mood in the Stormers camp after their 18-32 bonus point Super Rugby victory over the Waratahs.

The Stormers earned their first bonus point victory in Sydney since 2003 when they beat the current champion Waratahs on Saturday.

The Cape Town based side have now moved from Sydney to Perth as they face the Western Force this weekend in their final match on tour.

Fleck says that he wants to see the team back up their victory before they return to South Africa.

“We’ve always had a great mood in our camp, but obviously things are especially good after our win over the Waratahs, ” said Fleck.

“It was a vital win, one of our best, but we need to back it up this week against the Force – who are a tough team to beat, especially at home.

“To come home with 10/11 points would really make it a successful tour ahead of three important games back in South Africa (two of them at home) before our next bye (in mid-May). ”

Looking ahead to the challenge of facing the Force on their home turf, Fleck added, “The Force are always a competitive side with a strong kicking and defensive game.

“They’ve had a poor run of late, but they’ve been competitive in every game thus far and they’re not an easy side to play against.

“We need to have a bit of patience against a side with a strong kicking game and good chase lines… we need to work hard and recognise when opportunities arise and when they (opportunities) do we need to take advantage. ”

The Stormers will face up to the Force at Perth’s nib Stadium on Saturday.
