Bulls beat Reds in Pretoria

Out of the last five Super Rugby matches between the Pretoria based Bulls and the Brisbane based Reds the Bulls have won two and the Reds three.

We are waiting for the kick off.

The Bulls – Jacques-Louis Potgieter – kicks off and we are underway.

1.00: The Reds win an early penalty. Lachie Turner kicks for touch. He misses and the Bulls kick it back. The Reds kick it deep and we will have a 22 drop out.

3.00: The Reds maintain possession but then the get caught blocking so the Bulls have a penalty.

4.00: Jacques Louis Potgieter will kick for posts. He nails it. The Bulls lead.

6.00: The Reds want to run. Genia makes a break and gets the Reds into the Bulls 22. The Bulls however turn the ball over when the Reds get to the 5m line.

7.00: The Bulls break out after a period of attack and Francois Hougaard scores. TRY! The Bulls got the ball from a Karmichael Hunt kick and Jesse Kriel made the break with his pace.

9.00: Potgieter takes the conversion kick and nails it.

11.00: The Reds go through 6 phases. They lose the ball backwards and carry on with their attack through 9 phases.

13.00: The Reds run the ball then chip and chase. The Bulls get back and Hougaard kicks the ball back and just finds inside touch.

15.00: Frisby kicks up and chases, he gets the ball and sends a long pass out to Lachie Turner who scores. TRY!

18.00: The Bulls kick up and the Reds go for the ball but it bounces forward and into Pierre Spies’ hands and he races through to score the Bulls second TRY!

24.00: The Bulls win a penalty so Potgieter kicks for touch.

25.00: The Bulls throw long with the line out but still come away with the ball. They push forward and into the Reds 22 but the Reds turn the ball over and Genia kicks ahead.

26.00:The Bulls get back and take the ball and counter attack but the Bulls go over the top at the breakdown and the Reds have a penalty. Turner kicks for touch.

30.00: Bjorn Basson almost gets away for a try but he is called back as the final pass was forward.

31.00: The Reds win a penalty from the scrum. Turner kicks for touch again.

33.00: The Reds win the line out and attack the Bulls in their 22. They go through 8 phases and keep attacking the Bulls.

34.00: The Bulls turn the ball over and Hougaard (who ripped the ball off the Reds player) gets the ball and races for the line and scores again. Or does he ? We go to the TMO to check. Its a TRY !

35.00; Potgieter adds the conversion.

36.00: Unintentional obstruction so there will be a a scrum just inside the Reds half.

37.00: The Reds win the scrum and run the ball but when they get nowhere they are called back for a penalty. Stegmann offside at the scrum. Turner kicks for the corner.

39.00: The Reds go through the phases on attack in the Bulls 22. They kick the ball away and the Bulls recover it. The Bulls counter but then the Reds get the ball and start the attack all over again.

40.00: The siren sounds but the Reds play on. Turner almost gets through but is caught by Kriel, the Reds keep the ball alive.

41.00: 12 phases and the Reds still attack. Penalty to the Reds for offside.

43.00: The Reds choose a scrum but the Bulls somehow come away with the ball and they kick it into touch.

41.00: The Reds make a powerful start by winning the ball back and getting it to the 5m line. The Bulls however save the try.

45.00: The Reds win a scrum and Genia sells a dummy, slips through two tackles and scrambles to the line and reaches to score. TRY!

46.00: Turner adds the conversion.

48.00: The Reds passing and accuracy has taken a big step up. Liam Gill makes a break and sucks in the Bulls and he gets the ball away and its chipped ahead and Nick Frisby scores. TRY!

49.00: Turner misses the conversion from out wide.

50.00: Jesse Kriel makes a break for the Bulls. He is caught but his break wins a penalty for the Bulls as the Reds are caught offside. The Bulls kick for touch.

56.00: Samu Kerevi makes a break and gets almost to the line. Marco Kotze comes up in support and scores for the Reds. TRY! Bonus point.

57.00: Turner takes the conversion kick and misses this one too.

59.00: The Bulls get the ball to Burger Odendaal and he slips around Frisby and gets over to score. TRY!

61.00: Tian Schoeman slots the conversion.

63.00; The Bulls try to attack down the wing as Burger Odendaal chips ahead. Gill chases and beats him to the ball and saves a try. Thomson is back on for the Reds.

64.00: The Bulls win a line out and drive over the line. They are held up so there will be a 5m scrum.

65.00: Penalty to the Reds on the 5m line from the scrum. They kick for touch.

68.00: Hougaard gets the ball from Piet van Zyl and almost scores. He is stopped short but Van Zyl comes up and goes over. TRY.

69.00: Schoeman adds the conversion.

74.00: The double whistle goes and the doctor is called in for Marcel van der Merwe who is down. He goes off for a concussion test.

76.00: Hougaard almost gets away again but the ball was knocked on.

80.00: The siren sounds and the ball is kicked into touch.
