Leicester Tigers Director of Rugby Richard Cockerill has revealed that their star England centre Manu Tuilagi could spend the rest of the season on the sidelines due to injury.
Twenty-three-year-old Tuilagi has not played since October 18 and has missed England’s Autumn Internationals and the whole of the Six Nations.
Tuiliagi has played just four matches for Leicester Tigers this season and he mas missed several comeback dates.
Leicester Boss Cockerill now appears to have given up on seeing his star centre back on the playing field saying that the England international is a “slow healer”.
“Manu is improving but it is a long process,” Cockerill told the Leicester Mercury.
“The likelihood is he may not play this season.”
Leicester have worked their way into the Premierships top four which seemed highly unlikely before Christmas and now if they do make the play offs they look set to have to do it without another former England international in Anthony Allen who is also struggling to return this season.
Leicester have also lost Tom Croft and Ed Slater this season.
