Waratahs beat Auckland Blues in Sydney

Out of the last five Super Rugby matches between the Sydney based Super Rugby champion Waratahs and the Auckland based Blues the Auckland side have won three.

We are waiting for the kick off.

The Blues kick off and we are underway.

2.00: The Waratahs (Beale) kick the ball back upfield from the start. The Waratahs press the Blues back and Dan Bowden passes the ball forward.

3.00: The Waratahs win the scrum and pass to Israel Folau. He gets past one and the Waratahs keep the ball alive and they get the overlap but Matt Carraro loses the ball.

4.00: The Blues win a line out but they lose the ball and the Waratahs start to attack. Skelton gets them over the half way line.

6.00; The Waratahs continue to work the ball to the line. They drive over but are held up. Waratahs will have a 5m scrum. Tony Woodcock looks like he has taken a knock and comes off. Ofa Tu’ungafasi comes on.

7.00: The Blues win the scrum and run and then kick for touch. The Waratahs win the line out and Michael Hooper races through. He passes to Nick Phipps who races in and scores. We go to the TMO to check the pass. It’s a TRY!

8.00: Foley adds the conversion.

10.00: The Waratahs are still doing all of the attacking. They go through a couple of phases but Will Skelton knocks on.

13.00; Penalty to the Blues. Dan Bowden takes the kick and he nails it. The Blues are on the board. Woodcock comes back on.

18.00: The Waratahs work the ball into the Blues 22. They spread the ball wide and a Blues player knocks on but the Tahs regather it and Taqele Naiyaravoro goes over in the corner. We go to the TMO to check. No try as there was a knock.

22.00:  The Blues win their line out and they win a penalty almost in front but outside the 22. Bowden will kick for posts.

23.00: Bowden slots the penalty and its a one point game.

25.00: Penalty to the Blues for a high-dangerous tackle. Bowden kicks for touch.

27.00: The Waratahs get a warning as they have conceded a boatload of penalties. The Blues line up for posts.

28.00: Bowden misses.

31.00: The Blues win a scrum and Jimmy Cowan makes a dash. He gets caught and the Waratahs kick upfield. The Blues run it back.

32.00: The Waratahs show some good hands as they pass down the line. Phipps almost gets through but is stopped. The Blues turn the ball over and Waratahs counter attack.

34.00: The Waratahs get to the 5m line and Folau knocks on. We go to the TMO to check if the Blues knocked it on.

35.00: Penalty to the Waratahs on the Blues 5m line. The Tahs choose a scrum.

37.00: The Waratahs win another penalty so they choose a scrum again. The Tahs fail to use it so the Blues get the put in.

39.00: The Blues scrum collapses but the scrum will be reset and the Blues get the put in.

40.00: The sirens sounds as the scrum disintegrates. Its half time.

The Waratahs kick off and the second half is underway.

42.00: The intensity is high already. The Waratahs handling lets them down and Beale knocks on.

44.00: Penalty to the Waratahs (Brendon O’Connor offside). The Waratahs kick for touch.

47.00: The Waratahs grind the ball up to the line but the Blues hold them out. The Waratahs keep going through 16 phases and the Blues knock it on.

49.00: Penalty to the Waratahs from the scrum. Foley will kick for posts. He misses.

53.00: the Blues enjoy a strong attacking spell. Mealamu gets over the gain line and the Blues keep the ball going and Francis Saili scores. TRY!

55.00: Bowden misses the conversion.

57.00: Penalty to the Waratahs. Foley takes the kick and nails it.

60.00: Another penalty to the Waratahs. Foley slots it and puts the Tahs back into the lead.

66.00; The Waratahs are on the attack in the Blues 22. They edge into the Blues 22 and then get pushed back.

67.00: Penalty to the Waratahs. Foley will kick for posts.

68.00: Foley slots the penalty and extends the lead to five.

72.00: The TMO is called into for a review of foul play – its a yellow card for Jerome Kaino. Beale lines up the posts with a penalty kick but misses. The Blues will finish the match with 14 men.

74.00: The Waratahs are on the attack in the Blues 22. Beale changes direction and the Waratahs go wide and Peter Betham scores. TRY!

75.00: Foley slots the conversion.

78.00: The Blues attack down the wing but they lose the ball.

79.00: The Blues are holding on to the ball and attacking outwide.,They get pushed out.

80.09: The siren sounds. The Blues have the ball on the attack. They go through 7 phases. 8 phases. The Waratahs drive over the ruck and then kick and chase.

81.00: The Blues get the ball and try to attack The ball changes hands several times and then Betham boots it into touch.
