Harlequins re-sign prop Lambert until 2017

English Premiership Rugby club Harlequins have announced that Mark Lambert has extended his contract with the club keeping him with the club until 2017.

Prop Lambert has spent his entire career with Harlequins, having graduated from the award-winning Harlequins Academy in 2007.

He has since gone on to make over 160 appearances for the Club, captaining them on his 160th performance.

Harlequins Director of Rugby Conor O’Shea commented ,”Selfless is the wrong word to use to describe Mark but for me he is everything this club is about. He sacrifices and gives to this club on a daily basis.

“On the pitch he is an outstanding competitor and player; off the pitch he works tirelessly to make sure things are right to enable us to compete with the best. He is one of our most important re-signings and I am looking forward to continuing to work with him.”

Mark represented England at Under 19 and Under 21 level and he was also called up for the England Saxons during the 2009 Churchill Cup.

He is an integral member of the squad both on and off the field, proving to be an able mentor and embodying what it is to be a role model to all aspiring players.

Mark added ,”To sign a contract which takes my time at the club to at least 14 years is something of which I am incredibly proud. I will already take from Quins some of my greatest memories and closest friends.

“The same things motivate me to play now as they always have – playing for the shirt and the boys around me. The club is a massive part of both mine and my family’s life. I feel I’m contributing as much as I ever have and I look forward to playing my part as we work for future successes.”
