Stormers suffer double lock blow for opening rounds

The Stormers will be without locks Eben Etzebeth and Manuel Carizza for the start of the 2015 Super Rugby season due to injury.

Etzebeth (chest injury) and Carizza (shoulder) both suffered injuries in the Stormers Super Rugby warm up against the Cheetahs.

Etzebeth is expected to be out of action for four weeks and Carizza is expected back in three weeks.

Winger Kobus van Wyk has a minor calf strain and will be on the sidelines for ten days but could be considered for selection for the Stormers Super Rugby opener.

The Stormers have one remaining warm up match ahead of the new season and they will play the Boland Cavaliers at the Cape Town Stadium this Saturday, with a WP Emerging XV team also in action beforehand (14h00).

Other injuries in the Stormers squad include Wing/fullback EW Viljoen who will be out for seven days after taking a knock to the head against the Cheetahs. He has passed a concussion test so he is sitting out this week as a precaution.

Centre Damian de Allende, who has a slight quadriceps tear, is on track in terms of his rehabilitation but he will not be risked this weekend.

Loose forwards Siya Kolisi (tight hamstring) and Nizaam Carr (viral infection) will again not be risked this weekend but both are still making good progress and will continue to step up their conditioning this week.
