England Sevens wing Turner trains with Stormers

Former England Sevens winger Mat Turner has started training with Cape Town based Super Rugby franchise the Stormers.

The Stormers already have Seabelo Senatla on their books but he will be unavailable due to his commitments to the SA Sevens team so they need a specialist winger according to Die Son.

Turner was born in Cape Town, educated at Bishops (Diocesan College) and qualified for England through the IRB ancestral rules and regulations.

The Stormers are also understood to be interested in 32-year-old Fijian Sailosi Tagicakibau who played for the Cape Side last year

Kenyan wing Willy Ambaka has been training with the Stormers in Bellville along with 27-year-old Turner

Dillyn Leyds and EW Viljoen started on the wings against the SWD Eagles but they are utility players.

In 2009 Turner was on holiday in South Africa and was released to play for the Southern Kings against the British and Irish Lions.

Although Turner is training with the Stormers he has not yet joined the Stormers squad but he could work his way through to the squad through the Vodacom Cup.
