Scotland add Beattie to Six Nations squad

Scotland have added Castres number 8 Johnnie Beattie to their squad preparing for the upcoming Six Nations Championship.

The 29-year-old back-row, who scored a try in his club’s European Champions Cup defeat to Harlequins on Saturday, joined the squad on Sunday ahead of their three-day camp at the Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in Motherwell.

The Scotland medical team also provided an update after the players checked in from the weekend’s European Cup action.

The following players require further assessment and treatment, and will return to training this week as they become available: David Denton (calf), Alex Dunbar (concussion), Dougie Fife (leg), Robert Harley (knee/ankle), Sean Maitland (shoulder), Matt Scott (shoulder), Alasdair Strokosch (shoulder), Greig Tonks (concussion), Ben Toolis (back).
