The Cheetahs have suffered a blow for the start of the 2015 Super Rugby season as Boom Prinsloo has had to have surgery on a groin injury.
The Cheetahs met on Monday to prepare for the 2015 Super Rugby season and 11 of their 12 new signings were present for the pre-season training.
However Prinsloo was absent after undergoing his second operation in 2014 and coach Naka Drotske says he could be out for up to four months.
Twenty-five-year-old Prinsloo will not be alone on the side lines at the start of the Super Rugby season as flyhalf Elgar Watts and locks Boela Serfontein and Hilton Lobberts all have knee injuries.
Drotske said that he expects Serfontein and Watts to be available to play in March while Lobberts is only expected to return in May.
