Exeter Chiefs edged west country and Premiership rivals Gloucester Rugby 28-27 in their Anglo Welsh LV= Cup clash at Sandy Park on Saturday.
Exeter snatched victory right at the death at Sandy Park from visiting Gloucester,
with a penalty try in the 78th-minute swinging the lead back their way.
Collapsed scrums near the Gloucester line left referee Simon Harding with no
choice but to go under the sticks, but the drama wasn’t over.
Aled Thomas had a chance to give Gloucester the win, but his penalty just scraped
the right post as Exeter snuck home.
Neither team was able to score four tries for a bonus point as both teams fired
shots back and forth at each other, with Gloucester at one point leading 27-18
before Exeter rallied.
