Sale Sharks edge Wasps in Anglo Welsh LV= Cup

Sale Sharks kicked off the Anglo Welsh LV= Cup with a narrow 32-29 victory over Premiership rivals Wasps at the AJ Bell stadium on Saturday.

Nick Macleod’s 75th-minute penalty was the difference as Sale narrowly defeated
Wasps at home.

Will Helu scored two tries for the visitors as both teams racked up try bonus
points.

Wasps had outmatched their hosts physically in the opening 40 minutes, but
Sale roused themselves after the break inspired by skipper Dan Braid in his
first game of the season.

From 29-19 down Wasps threw the kitchen sink at Sale to draw level, before
Macleod’s strike settled the result.
