Stephen Moore extends with Brumbies for a year

Wallabies hooker Stephen Moore has committed to Canberra based Super Rugby franchise the Brumbies for another year keeping him in the Australian capital untile after the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Moore is approaching 150 caps in Super Rugby and is also coming up to his 100th Test cap for Australia with the Wallabies making him one of Australia’s most experienced players.

With 131 Super Rugby games and 92 Tests, the Brumbies and Wallabies Captain finds himself behind only George Gregan (SR 136, Tests 139), George Smith (SR 142, Tests 111) and Nathan Sharpe (SR 162, Tests 119) at the top of the list.

But with the potential to add another 30 Super Rugby and Wallabies caps to his tally, Moore’s legacy will be remembered amongst the game’s greats.

“For me to have another year in Australian rugby is exciting and invigorating. There were options for me to continue my playing career overseas but with a young family I thought the best option was to stay in Canberra and with the Brumbies,” Moore said.

“Community and is very important to me and it’s very important to our team. We are fortunate to have fantastic support in Canberra from all walks of life which really made the decision to stay for another year much easier.

“I believe the Brumbies are working towards more success and it’s nice to be given an opportunity to be a part of that until at least the end of 2016.

“I’m grateful to the ARU and Brumbies for the opportunity for me to continue my career in Australia. I’m looking forward to the next two seasons.”

Moore arrived in Canberra in 2008 on the back of four season with the Reds out of Brisbane. He quickly established himself as the club’s No.1 hooker, ably filling the void left by departing Brumbies legend, Jeremy Paul, who left Australia for Gloucester.

Moore’s Wallaby debut came three years earlier against Samoa in Sydney and he has remained one of the most consistent performers in Australian rugby for the following nine seasons.
