Former Wallabies star back Matt Giteau has reportedly been offered a record contract to switch from his current French Top14 club Toulon by Parisian club Racing Metro.
Reports suggest that Giteau has been offered $1.4 million a season which has the potential to make him the highest paid rugby player in the game.
Giteau is contracted to Toulon until the end of the 2014/2015 northern hemisphere season which ends in June next year.
Racing Metro had hoped to retain Ireland flyhalf Jonathan Sexton for next season but he has recently re-signed with his former club Leinster which puts Racing in need of a new flyhalf.
The club have been linked to All Blacks star Dan Carter and France flyhalf Remi Tales but the most likely candidate is Giteau who won the Heineken Cup and top14 titles last season.
