Dunedin based Super Rugby franchise the Highlanders have announced that Paul McLaughlan will be the new Highlanders’ team manager starting with the 2015 season.
McLaughlan brings a wealth of managerial experience to the role having been with the NZ police for nearly 30 years and managing Otago age group and ITM cup teams between 2000 and 2009.
During the last 5 years he has successfully managed the New Zealand under 20 team at the IRB Junior World Cup tournaments.
Highlanders’ General Manager Roger Clark said, “We are delighted to have a person of Paul’s calibre joining our team in this very important role. His experience and local knowledge will be of great benefit to our organisation”.
McLaughlan commented, “I feel privileged to be taking on this role, it’s a position I have always been interested in and I am very excited to be getting an opportunity to have a crack at it”.
McLaughlan will commence fulltime with the Highlanders in early October.
