Du Plessis: Sharks loss is extremely disappointing

Sharks captain Bismarck du Plessis says that it is “extremely disappointing” to lose to the Crusaders in their Semi-final in the way they did.

The Sharks qualified for the Semi-finals by finishing on top of the South African Conference and then beating the Highlanders in the Super Rugby qualifier last week.

The Durban based Sharks had to travel to Christchurch after their Super Rugby qualifier while the Crusaders had the week off as they finished higher in the regular season standings.

The Sharks led the Super Rugby standings for much of the season but slipped up against the Stormers and Cheetahs when they rotated their players and the losses ultimately cost them a home Semi-final.

Despite having to play an extra week and the travel the Sharks failed to deliver in the Semi-final and were outplayed throughout the match.

Springbok hooker Du Plessis said that they were unable to get their game going and could not play the game as they had trained to.

“It’s extremely disappointing,” said Sharks captain Bismarck du Plessis who was replaced in the 66th minute of the match

“Everything we worked on during the last two weeks…we couldn’t field the high balls, couldn’t play in the right areas.”
