Lambie back for Sharks clash with Highlanders

The Sharks have named their team to play in the Super Rugby qualifier against the Highlanders at Kings Park in Durban with Pat Lambie returning on the bench.

The Durban Super Rugby franchise have also ben able to bring Cobus Reinach back after he missed last week’s match in Cape Town with a minor complaint.

Springbok flyhalf Lambie makes his return to the squad after almost four months out of action with a torn bicep injury which he sustained playing against the Bulls in March.

JP Pietersen has been declared fit after a clash with Duane Vermeulen last week and Reinach is the only change to the team that ran out against the Stormers.

Lambie’s return pushes Fred Zeilinga out of the match day squad and will be a big boost for the team at this stage of the tournament.

Sharks Director of Rugby Jake White says that they will be up against a formidable opponent who have already beaten the Sharks this year.

“When they are on song, they can perform – they beat some big teams this year and this is a team that can score tries, they have the players,” he said on the Sharks site.

“But, in saying that, the nice thing we have in our favour is that we lost to them. I know I don’t have to talk much this week. “

“The players will know it’s not just going to happen. I think in a lot of ways, we were on a high in that pool game back in April, about to tour, and we ended up losing that game. We’ll be a lot more focused this week.

“In a lot of ways, it’s probably a good thing for us, a boost, that they beat us. Had we beaten them comfortably perhaps we would have gone into this game thinking it was a fait accompli. In a lot of ways we get to have another crack at them.”
