Crusaders beat Highlanders in Christchurch

Out of the last five Super Rugby matches between the Crusaders and the Highlanders the Christchurch based Crusaders have won four and lost one.

We are waiting for the kick off.

The Crusaders kick off and we are underway. The Highlanders kick the ball into touch. The Crusaders win the line out and start their attack.

1.00: Penalty to the Highlanders just outside their 22. Hayden Parker kicks for touch.

2.00: Penalty to the Crusaders. The Highlanders get marched back a further 10 and the Crusaders point to the posts.

3.00: Dan Carter takes the penalty kick and nails it.

5.00: The Highlanders push the Crusaders back into their 22. The Crusaders have to clear the ball from the dead ball zone and they get the ball out of the 22.

6.00: The Highlanders win the line out and run at the Crusaders.

9.00: The Crusaders sustain a period of pressure in their 22 and suck up the Highlanders attack.

10.00: The Crusaders get the ball into the Highlanders half. They win a line out and start to send their runners at the Highlanders just outside the Highlanders 22 but then the Highlanders knock on.

12.00: Penalty to the Crusaders as Shane Christie left the scrum early. Carter will kick for posts. He misses.

15.00:The game is held up as Israel Dagg has taken a knock. The Highlanders have a line out as the Crusaders ran the ball into touch. Dagg carries on and the Crusaders win the line out.

16.00: Penalty from the breakdown to the Crusaders. Carter will kick for posts. He takes the shot and nails this one.

19.00: Penalty to the Highlanders just inside the Crusaders 22. Parker will go for posts.

20.00: Parker takes the shot and nails it. The Highlanders are on the board.

24.00: Both teams probing each other without really bringing a punch.

26.00: The Crusaders up the pace and attack outwide but they get pushed into touch. Kieran Read sucks in two defenders and passes to Jordan Taufua and he passes to Dagg who he is pushed into touch. Classy.

27.00: Aaron Smith makes a break out of the Highlanders 22 but he gets caught. The pace of the game is lifting.

28.00: Colin Slade makes an exciting break and looks like he could score but then Hayden Parker stops him and he knocks on 5m out.

30.00: Penalty to the Crusaders from the scrum. Carter slots the kick from in front.

32.00: Parker’s restart goes out on the full so the Crusaders have a scrum. They win the scrum and go through a couple of phases and then force the Highlanders to take the ball out after a Matt Todd chip kick.

34.00: Penalty to the Crusaders  – in front – for offside. Carter will kick. He nails it.

38.00: The Crusaders have the ball in the Highlanders 22. Dagg slips through the defence and passes to Nadolo but he knocks on. We go back for a penalty. High tackle.

39.00: The Crusaders choose the line out. They win the line out and set up the maul and drive over. TRY! Matt Todd scores.

40.00: The siren sounds. Carter takes the conversion and misses it.

The Highlanders kick off and we are underway.

42.00: The Highlanders enjoy some early territory in the Crusaders half. The Crusaders however win a line out and kick the ball back to the half way line.

43.00: Penalty to the Crusaders for obstruction. Carter kicks for touch and finds the 5m mark.

44.00: The Crusaders win the line out, form the maul and drive over and again Matt Todd scores. TRY!

45.00:Carter slots the conversion.

47.00: The Crusaders win a penalty and take the quick tap (Ellis), Dagg passes to Read who passes to Nadolo who drops to the ground with momemtum and scores. TRY!

48.00: Carter misses the conversi
