JacPot to play Super Rugby for Waratahs in 2015

Waratahs crowd favourite and utility forward Jacques Potgieter has confirmed that he is staying in Sydney for at least one more season of Super Rugby.

The Bulls had hoped to be able to bring “JacPot” back to South Africa and had opened negotiations with the franchise he left a year ago.

However the Waratahs made a counter offer which he has taken up instead of returning home and attempting to make the Springbok Rugby World Cup squad.

Potgieter told South African Super Rugby broadaster SuperSport that he “missed South Africa but I have another year in Sydney to complete.”

His agent Gert van der Merwe said that there had been chance that he would return to SA but he has now chosen to stay in Sydney.

“He certainly was looking to come back, but the deal he was offered was a good one, and it was hard to refuse,” Van der Merwe told Supersport.

Potgieter will return to South Africa after the Super Rugby season finishes and he will then decide whether he wants to play in Japan or for a local team in the Currie Cup.
