Stormers beat Bulls in Cape Town

Out of the last five Super Rugby matches between the Stormers and the Bulls the Cape Town based Stormers have won three and the Pretoria Bulls two.

We are waiting for the kick off.

Kurt Coleman kicks off and we are underway.

1.00: The Stormers make a strong start to the match by putting the Bulls under pressure in their 22.

2.00: It’s all attack rom the Stormers early on. They go through phase after phase on attack as the Bulls have to scramble from side to side.

3.00: After three minutes of relentless attack the Stormers win a penalty.

4.00: Coleman takes the penalty kick and nails it. The Stormers lead.

6.00: The Bulls are starting to come back into the match. They do however concede a penalty so Coleman kicks for touch.

10.00: The Bulls win a line out but then Francois Hougaard loses the ball and knocks on.

13.00: The Stormers win a line out after a penalty. They get the ball into the Bulls half and start going through the phases. Coleman slips through and passes to Nizaam Carr who passes to Jaco Taute who races in for the opening TRY!

15.00: Coleman slots the conversion.

18.00; The Stormers win a penalty – the second one – from a scrum. The Bulls are struggling in all areas. The Stormers kick for touch and find it in the corner.

23.00: Penalty to the Stormers Victor Matfield has an argument with referee Craig Joubert. He is told not to attack him.

24.00: Coleman slots the penalty.

26.00: The Bulls set up a maul. It makes some ground and then Nudungane breaks away down the wing. The Stormers turn the ball over and start their attack. They kick for touch and Basson takes the ball out.

29.00: Beyers goes to kick for touch and clear the ball for the Bulls but the ball goes out on the full. The Stormers win the line out but when they get into the Bulls 22 they knock on.

32.00: The Bulls get a line out but the throw in is not straight. Stormers scrum.

34.00: The Stormers break through the Bulls defence but then Gio Aplon gets caught and then gets back up and in doing so he gives away a penalty for not releasing the ball in the tackle. The Bulls clear.

37.00: The Stormers are full of attack. Cheslin Kolbe has a run but is stopped. The Stormers keep the ball alive and then they win a penalty.

38.00: Coleman will go for posts. He takes the shot and nails it.

40.01: The siren sounds for half time. The Bulls play on. The Bulls go through the phases edging forward in the Stormers half but they get pushed into touch.

The Bulls kick off and we are underway with the second half.

42.00: The Bulls win a penalty but it then gets reversed as the Bulls get over-aggressive with the Stormers and Deon Greyling smacks Deon Fourie on the head.

43.00: The Stormers kick for touch but make a mess of the line out. The ball goes out.

44.00: The Bulls get a penalty as Matfield is interfered with at the line out. They kick for touch.

45.00: The Bulls win the line out but the Stormers turn the ball over and kick it out.

47.00: Another penalty to the Stormers. Another argument between Matfield and Joubert. Matfield is seething.

49.00: Still no score in the second half. The Scrum battles to complete and has to be reset.

50.00: The Bulls win a line out and start the attack in the Stormers half. Ross gets them into the 22 but then the Stormers turn the ball over and Aplon kicks it upfield and out.

53.00: Coleman kicks upfield. Basson takes the ball and makes a mark. He rushes the kick and the ball makes little ground. Nothing is working for the Bulls.
