Duncan takes over as Cheetahs Currie Cup coach

Former captain Rory Duncan will coach the Free State Cheetahs in the 2014 Currie Cup as Naka Drotske will be sent to the UK for further coaching insight.

Volksblad reports the Duncan has been made head coach of the Free State Cheetahs’ Currie Cup side and will be assisted by former Springboks Franco Smith and Os du Randt.

Drotske retains his place as Cheetahs Super Rugby coach and he will be assisted by Griquas coach Hawies Fourie and Du Randt.

The Free State Rugby Union plan to send Drotske to the United Kingdom where he will learn about the latest developments around new coaching structures and rugby matters.

Duncan was Cheetahs captain in 2007 when the Cheetahs won the Currie Cup and coached the Free State XV in this year’s Vodacom Cup.
