Chiefs re-sign Tasman duo for Super Rugby

The Chiefs have re-signed Tasman loose forwards, Liam Squire and Tevita Koloamatangi for the next two Super Rugby seasons.

Squire has played five games for the Chiefs, making his debut off the bench in the Chiefs match against the Highlanders in Hamilton in March and the Maori All Black is thriving in the Chiefs culture.

“At this stage of my career I feel for the best development of my rugby, this is the best place for me to be,” said the twenty-three year old.

Chiefs coach Dave Rennie said, “They are both quality young men who have impressed both on and off the field. We love their attitude, their work ethic and their contribution to our culture.”

Twenty- five year old Koloamatangi emulated Squires sentiments, “Being with this coaching staff is a good place for me to be for what I want to achieve out of my footy. The environment is unreal and the whole team are a great bunch to work with,” said the versatile forward.

Koloamatangi made his Super Rugby debut starting against the Crusaders in February and has played three matches for the Chiefs, scoring his first try against the Stormers in Hamilton.

Both players earned their place in the Chiefs through an impressive ITM Cup season last year where they won the ITM Cup Championship with Tasman.
