Stormers beat the Force in Cape Town

Out of the last five Super Rugby matches between the Cape Town based Stormers and the Perth based Western Force the Stormers have won four.

We are waiting for the kick off.

Peter Grant kicks off and we are underway.

2.00: The Stormers are awarded an early penalty so Peter Grant takes the kick. He misses.

5.00: The Stormers win another penalty. This one is on the half way line and is for side entry. Grant kicks for touch.

8.00:It’s very hard to differentiate between the players as the Stormers are in blue and so are the Force. The Force have white shoulders and the Stormers blue is slightly darker. The Stormers attack the Force’s tryline but the visitors hold them out.

9.00: The Stormers go for the Force’s line but again the Force look to have held them out. Sometime in this match someone is going to get confused with these blue jersey’s. We go to the TMO to check if the Stormers have scored. Short. The Force get a penalty for double movement. They kick for touch.

12.00: The Stormers go through 10 phases on attack and they go for line but the Force again hold them out. It’s short again. The Force kick for touch with the penalty.

13.00: The Stormers get the line out put in after an error from the lines man – should have been a knock forward. They win the line out and attack in the Force’s 22.

14.00: The Force concede a penalty in their 22. Grant will kick for posts.

16.00: Grant slots the penalty and the Stormers lead.

17.00: We go to the TMO to review a shoulder charge on Grant. The Stormers win a penalty as Ben McCalman connected with him in the air with his shoulder. He was committed. Grant kicks for touch.

19.00: The Stormers manage to stretch the Force’s defence and Juan de Jongh goes over for the first TRY in the corner. Stormers have had 94% territory and 88% possession.

20.00: Grant takes the conversion kick and nails it.

22.00: Penalty to the Force.  Sias Ebersohn takes the shot and nails it. The Force are on the board.

27.00: The Stormers win a line out on the half way line. They work the ball into the Force’s 22 but knock on.

31.00: The Force get some rare go forward ball. They get into the Stormers half. The Force try to chip ahead after 8 phases.

34.00: The Force concede a penalty on attack so Peter Grant kicks for touch and the line out.

35.00: The Stormers win a line out and then a penalty. They kick for touch again.

36.00: The Force bring the Stormers maul down after a line out. Adam Coleman is yellow carded and the Stormers have another penalty.

37.00: Cheslin Kolbe almost gets through to score but the Force hold him out. There is a knock on so the Stormers have a scrum 5m out.

38.00: Chris Pollock awards a penalty TRY to the Stormers after the scrum. There is a bit of handbags which then dies down.

39.00: Grant adds the conversion.

40.00: The siren goes for half time. It is half time.

The half time score was Stormers 19 W.Force 3

Sias Ebersohn kicks off and we are underway.

42.00: The Force win a penalty and even though they are still a man down they kick for touch and the line out. They win the line out and put the Stormers under pressure in their 22.

44.00: The Stormers turn the ball over and work the ball up to the Force’s 5m line. Deon Fourie drives over the line and comes up to claim the try. We go to the TMO. The pictures show a leg is beneath the ball so no try. 5m scrum.

46.00: The Stormers win the scrum and spread the ball wide for  Ruan Botha who goes over to score TRY!

48.00: Peter Grant takes the conversion kick and sneaks it in.

51.00: The Force kick high and chase the ball but the Stormers turn the ball over and attack.

53.00: The Stormers win
