Romano out of All Blacks series against England

All Blacks and Crusaders lock Luke Romano has been ruled out of New Zealand’s three test series against England after he broke his ankle playing against the Reds in Brisbane.

The Crusaders won the match 29-57 but Romano broke his ankle and had to leave the field in the 44th minute.

Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder said that Romano’s injury took some of the gloss off the Crusaders record victory.

The victory was the Crusaders fifth in a row and this weekend they host the tournament leading Sharks in Christchurch.

“It’s a real blow for Luke. He’s had one of those mixed seasons…he started slowly and then had a calf injury, ” Blackadder told Fairfax.

“And now he’s had an opportunity he’s broke an ankle.”

“He’s pretty resilient and he’ll come back from this.”
