Chiefs beat Blues in New Plymouth

Out of the last five Super Rugby matches between the Chiefs and the Blues the Chiefs the current Super Rugby champions the Chiefs have won all five matches.

We are waiting for the kick off.

The Chiefs kick off and we are underway.

1.00: The Blues make a strong start and force a turn over. They get a scrum on the half way line.

2.00: The scrum collapses and has to be reset.

3.00: The Blues win the scrum and through two territorial kicks they set up a line out on the Chiefs 5m line.

4.00: The Chiefs win the line out and kick upfield. The Blues run it back but the ball goes into a maul which collapses on the half way line.

5.00: The Chiefs concede a penalty at the scrum. The Blues kick for touch from the half way line.

6.00: The Blues win the line out. They work the ball to about 10m out and then send it out to the backs. They pass out to Lolagi Visinia who loses the ball in the air but re-gathers it from a pass from Ma’a Nonu. Replays show he lost it and re-gathered the ball twice. The TMO says it’s all good. TRY!

8.00: Simon Hickey takes the conversion kick from the touchline. He nails it and the Blues lead by 7.

10.00: The Chiefs pick up the ball from a Blues mistake. They attack in the Blues 22 and Ben Tameifuna crashes over in the corner. TRY! The TMO checks. All good.

11.00: Gareth Anscombe slots the conversion from the touchline to level the scores.

13.00: The Chiefs win a line out and Anscombe tries to clear the ball but the Blues charge it down. The Blues get the ball and go over to score again but they are called back as there was a knock on.

14.00: The Chiefs win the scrum and clear the ball into touch.

16.00: The Chiefs go on the attack in the Blues 22. They get to 10 m out but the ball goes to ground, Nonu picks it up and the Blues kick upfield.

17.00: The Blues fail to find touch and the Chiefs counter. That moves slows and we  go back for a penalty. Offside.

18.00: Anscombe takes the penalty kick but misses.

20.00 Charles Piutau goes down and the medics rush to him. The game continues and both sides have a run. The Chiefs break through and Tim Nanai-Williams gets the ball and races for the line to score. TRY!

21.00: Anscombe takes the conversion kick from almost in front. Charles Piutau is back up but coming off with twisted left knee injury after he fell awakwardly in a tackle by Sam Cane.

23.00: The Blues look to attack in the Chiefs corner but Visinia is pushed into touch. We go back for a knock on.

27.00: The Blues are caught offside again so Anscombe gets another shot at the posts.

28.00: Anscombe slots the penalty and the Blues now lead by 10

30.00: The Blues win a penalty back. Simon Hickey takes the kick from in front and nails it.

34.00: The Blues make some progress into Chiefs territory. The Chiefs infringe at the breakdown so Hickey gets another shot. He nails it.

37.00:The Blues try to attack in their half but the Chiefs stop them and push them out.

38.00: The Chiefs win the line out and attack. They almost get to the Blues 22m line and they win a penalty. Tim Nanai-Williams is down.

39.00: Anscombe will take the shot at goal which will take us to half time.

40.00: Anscombe takes the shot from the touchline and nails it.  It’s half time.

The Blues kick off and we are underway.

42.00: The Blues win a line out but the Chiefs grab the ball when it pops out. Ben Tameifuna gets the ball and crashes over again. TRY!

43.00: Anscombe takes the conversion kick but misses.

48.00: The Blues win a penalty inside the Chiefs half. Liam Messam is down injured. Hickey kicks for touch when the Blues could have gone for posts.
