Waratahs beat Hurricanes in Sydney

Out of the last five Super Rugby matches between the Waratahs and the Hurricanes the Waratahs have won three and the Hurricanes two.

The Waratahs kick off and match is underway.

1.00: The Waratahs get the perfect start as Adam Ashley-Cooper passes to Rob Horne on the wing and he beats Cory Jane and goes in to score. TRY!

2.00: Bernard Foley takes the conversion and nails it.

6.00: The Hurricanes maintain possession of the ball going through the phases but the Waratahs keep them in the middle of the field.

8.00: The Waratahs concede a penalty so the Hurricanes kick for touch.

9.00; The Hurricanes win the line out but as they change sides they knock on.

11.00: The Hurricanes work the ball into the Waratahs 22 and TJ Perenara comes close but the Tahs hold him out.

12.00: The Hurricanes win the scrum in the Waratahs 22 and Jeffery Toomaga-Allen powers over the line for the first Hurricanes TRY!

13.00: Beauden Barrett slots the conversion and the scores are level.

16.00:It’s a very even contest so far. Neither side really taking control of the match.

19.00: The Hurricanes go on a run into the Waratahs 22 but the Waratahs steal the ball. We go back for a knock on.

22.00: Penalty to the Hurricanes. Beauden Barrett takes the kick and nails it. The Hurricanes lead.

24.00: Andre Taylor breaks down the wing and passes to TJ Perenara, the try looks to be certain but somehow the Waratahs bring him down short and then when the Waratahs go to clear the ball Wycliff Palu loses the ball and it falls into Beauden Barrett’s hands and he falls to the floor and scores. TRY!

26.00: Barrett adds the conversion.

27.00: The Hurricanes split the Waratahs in centrefield as Dane Coles breaks. They get the ball to Julian Savea on the wing and he scores. TRY! Barrett slots the conversion.

29.00: The Waratahs look to hit back straight away. Adam Ashley-Cooper makes a break, he is caught but they keep the ball alive and Rob Horne gets closer. The Tahs keep the ball alive and Dave Dennis goes over to score. TRY! Not entirely clear whether he got the ball down at first but then he does.

30.00: Foley adds the conversion.

34.00: The Waratahs get the ball back into the Hurricanes 22. They go for the line and Foley slips through and twists and turns as he goes over. The TMO will check the grounding. The try is awarded.

35.00: Foley slots the conversion. Tahs trail by three.

37.00: The Waratahs are back on the attack. They get into the Hurricanes 22, Foley chips ahead and Horne goes for the ball and misses it with an open tryline!! The bounce didn’t favour him though. We go back for a penalty.

39.00: Foley takes the penalty kick and slots it. The scores are level again.

40.05: The siren sounds but we have time for a scrum. The Tahs win the scrum and kick it out. It’s half time.

The Hurricanes kick off and we are underway with the second half.

41.00: The Hurricanes start well with a run from Victor Vito. He is stopped and the Waratahs knock on.

42.00: The Hurricanes win the ball from the scrum and attack on the blindside and come oh so close but Hooper gets over and saves the try.

43.00: The Hurricanes are caught offside so the Waratahs get a kick to relieve the pressure.

47.00: The Waratahs work the ball into the Hurricanes half. They send several waves of attack at the Canes but can’t get into their 22. The ball goes dead and as the Tahs were going forward they get the put in.

48.00: Tatafu Polota Nau comes off for concussion and is replaced by Tolu Latu.
