Dennis : Waratahs turned over too much ball

Waratahs captain Dave Dennis says that they gave the Blues too many opportunities in their 21-13 loss at Eden Park in Auckland.

The Waratahs have played the Blues 10 times in Auckland and have only won once since 1996. The last time the Waratahs left Aucklanders as winners was five years ago in 2009.

The Waratahs had two tries disallowed by the Television match official and created several breaks that could have led to tries but their ball handling skills let them down time and time again.

The Blues used their opportunities better and outscored the Waratahs by two tries to one.

“I thought the physical part of the game was pretty much even,” said Dennis after the game.

“We just turned over too much ball and have them too much opportunity.”

“You always want to try and attack and play running rugby but you’ve got to learn when to hold it and when the pass is on and the reality is the majority of the time is it’s not on and we’ve just got to recycle and go again but we just pushed too many passes.”

The Waratahs now head home to take on the Hurricanes at Allianz Stadium next Saturday.
