Blues beat Waratahs in Auckland

Out of the last five Super Rugby matches between the Blues and the Waratahs the Blues have won three and the Waratahs have won two.

We are waiting for the kick off.

The Waratahs kick off and we are underway.

1.00: The Waratahs look to have made another great start as Adam Ashley-Cooper passes to Rob Horne who is tackled short of the line and reaches over to score. However he made a double movement so the Blues get a penalty.

3.00: The Waratahs are still attacking. Jerome Kaino holds up Kurtley Beale on the attack and wins a scrum for the Blues.

4.00: The Blues almost break through on the wing but Israel Folau just pushes Ma’a Nonu’s chip into touch.  

6.00: Adam Ashley-Cooper is caught offside so the Blues have a penalty. Simon Hickey will kick.

7.00: Hickey slots the kick and the Blues lead.

10.00: The Blues win another penalty. Hands in the ruck so they kick for touch.

13.00: The Waratahs concede a penalty from the scrum so Hickey kicks for touch.

14.00: Keven Mealamu’s line out throw is not straight so the Waratahs get a scrum in their 22.

15.00: The Waratahs win a scrum so Bernard Foley kicks the ball into touch.

16.00: The Waratahs win the line out and work the ball upfield a little and then they win a penalty (Tom Donnelly). Foley will kick for posts.

17.00: Foley takes the kick but misses.

20.00: The Waratahs start attacking the Blues but they lose the ball and the Blues attack. The Blues win the ball in the air and go through the phases on the attack and then Nonu sends a long pass out to Lolagi Visinia who scores the opening TRY!

21.00: Simon Hickey misses the conversion.

26.00: The Blues are playing the games mostly in the Waratahs half. They do however concede a penalty so the Waratahs kick for touch.

27.00; The Waratahs kick upfield and the Blues counter. Rob Horne gets a hand to the ball and races away to score a try. He is however called back as he knocked on. Sekope Kepu has been replaced by Paddy Ryan.

28.00: We go back for the knock on. The Blues win the scrum but they pass the ball forward.

31.00; Lots of broken play from both sides. Handling is letting the Waratahs down. After an extended period of play in which the ball is kicked from side to side it ends when the Blues kick the ball out.

32.00: The Waratahs win the line out and attack. Suddenly they get through the Blues defence but Cam Crawford loses the ball and regains it but stumbles. The Blues kick the ball out but the Tahs win the line out and attack in the Blues 22 again.

33.00: Penalty to the Waratahs for offside. Foley takes the kick and puts the Waratahs on the board.

35.00: Penalty to the Waratahs after the restart. They kick for touch.

36.00: Will Skelton gets a falcon on his head at the line out and its ruled a knock on.

38.00: Problems in the scrum slow the game down. The Blues eventually win the scrum and the Blues kick for touch. The Waratahs take it quickly and kick it out.

39.00: The Waratahs win the line out and kick upfield. They chase but the Blues get the ball and as the siren goes Hickey kicks for touch.

40.00: The Blues kick off and we are underway with the second half.

41.00: The Blues make a strong start to the second half and get within 5m of the line but they concede a penalty. The Waratahs kick for touch.

44.00: Possession is at 53% for Blues. Territory at 47%. We have a break in play for an injury. The game resumes with a scrum.

45.00: The Blues try to attack the Waratahs but then Benn Robinson tackles the Blues halfback Bryn Hall and concedes a penalty. Hickey will kick for posts.

46.00: Hickey takes the shot and nails it.
