ARU won’t block Folau selection against Bulls

Waratahs fullback Israel Folau will be named at fullback against the Bulls in Sydney this weekend and the ARU will not block his selection.

The Waratahs named Folau to start against the Western Force last weekend but he was withdrawn by the Australian Rugby Union just over 24 hours before kick off.

An ARU spokesman has confirmed they will not block Folau’s selection this weekend and the final decision will be up to the Waratahs.

Waratahs coach Michael Cheika wanted Folau to play last weekend after the Waratahs medical team gave the fullback clearance so there is no reason the Waratahs won’t select him this weekend.

Folau has missed the last three weeks of Super Rugby after he injured his throat playing against the Rebels before their tour of South Africa.

Folau missed matches against the Sharks, Stormers and Force.

Folau is the Waratahs top tryscorer and in their last three Super Rugby matches they have only scored three tries.
