Graham: Reds need to capitalise on opportunities

Reds coach Richard Graham says that they will need to start capitalising on their opportunities and turn their season around when they come back from their bye next week.

The Reds were beaten 20-23 by the Brumbies at Suncorp Stadium in front of 30,004 fans on Friday.

The Reds had to fight their way back into the match after letting the Brumbies go out to a 3-20 lead half way through the first half.

The Reds started their comeback with a second half try by Eddie Quirk and although they won the second half 10-3 the Brumbies had enough of a lead from the first half to hold on for the victory.

The result takes the 2011 Super Rugby champions to a record of played 8 matches, won three and lost five.

Graham says that they will need to react quickly and prepare for the second half of the season.

“We have to make a choice now. We’ve got a bye and we’ll do everything we can in that bye to give guys a rest, but then we’ve got to roll up our sleeves and we need a really good back end of the season,” Graham said.

“The bye gives us another week to overcome a number of injuries.”

“It also brings our five injured Wallabies (Ben Daley, Liam Gill, Mike Harris, Dom Shipperley and Lachie Turner) a week closer to returning.”

“We don’t need to change a great deal in our play, but clearly we have to change something when you look at the results. “

“We’re creating a significant amount of opportunities, we just have to start capitalising on a large percentage of those,” said Graham.

The Reds have a bye in Round 10 before taking on the Hurricanes in Wellington the day after Anzac Day.
