Crusaders beat Lions in Johannesburg

Out of the last five Super Rugby matches between the Lions and the Crusaders the Crusaders have won four and lost one match.

We are waiting for the kick off.

1.00: The Lions kick off and the ball goes to the Crusaders who boot the ball back and the Lions put it out.

3.00: The scrums are battling to complete which is eating up time.

4.00: The Lions scrum collapses so the Crusaders win a penalty. They will kick for posts. Colin Slade takes the kick but misses. Wide.

7.00: The Crusaders start their build up in the Lions half but they pass the ball to no one and the ball rolls out. It is confusing to see who is who as the Lions have black shorts and red tops while the Crusaders have black tops and red shorts so they clash.

8.00: Jaco Kriel busts through a tackle and makes a little ground. The Crusaders turn the ball over and attack but they Lions infringe so we go back for a penalty. Slade will kick.

10.00: Slade takes the kick and this one he nails. The Crusaders lead.

12.00: The Lions concede another penalty so the Crusaders get another penalty. Slade takes the kick and nails it.

16.00: The Crusaders are keeping the Lions under pressure in their 22. However the Lions win a penalty for offside at the ruck. Boshoff clears the ball.

20.00: Penalty to the Lions from the scrum in their 22. They will kick for touch.

22.00: Boshoff goes for a Lions drop goal but misses.

23.00: The Lions are enjoying more territory in the Crusaders half and possession is now at 47% for the Lions. 35% territory for the Lions.

24.00: Penalty to the Crusaders from the scrum for binding. They kick for touch.

25.00: The Lions work the ball through the hands in the Crusaders 22. The Crusaders defend and keep them out.

27.00: There is a break in play due to an injury after the Crusaders knock on.

28.00: The Lions win a scrum and Faf de Klerk races off the side and passes to Willie Britz but he knocks on.

29.00: The Lions scrum wheels so the Crusaders get a penalty. They kick for touch.

30.00: The Crusaders knock on so the Lions try to attack but they too knock on. Handling errors at 4 each.

33.00: The Crusaders are on the attack again but again they knock on. The Lions play on for the advantage but they too knock on. The Crusaders attack and kick down the wing.

35.00: The Lions go offside so the Crusaders have a kickable penalty.

36.00: Slade hits the post with the penalty. The Lions play on. The Crusaders turn the ball over and attack but get pushed out in the corner.

38.00: The Lions win the line out but the Crusaders turn the ball over. They try to attack in the corner but again they are pushed into touch.

39.00: The Crusaders win the ball from the line out and Crotty gets to the 5m line and is tackled. The Lions turn the ball over and after a couple of changes of hand the Crusaders kick the ball out. The game is being played at some pace.

40.00: The siren sounds as the Lions have the ball. They are however being pressed back in their 22.

41.0: The Lions win a penalty. They kick it into touch and it’s half time.

The Crusaders kick off and we are underway.

41.00: The Crusaders make a strong start and Johnny McNichol almost gets over to score but the Lions scramble and defend. There is a knock on.

42.00: The Lions scrum collapses so we have to reset it. The Lions then win a penalty.

43.00: Faf de Klerk knocks on after the Lions clear the ball at the line out which gives the Crusaders as scrum. The Lions win the scrum but they take it out.

45.00:The Crusaders win the ball from a scrum and Ryan Crotty races away for the line and is just caught at the lines but rolls over and manages
